The scholarship will run during the month of November, and the host institution will be the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) where Juan will work with Prof. Pierre-Yves Manguin on comparative studies of the nautical literature of the Bay of Bengal, in particular comparing information found in Arabic and in South-East Asian treatises. This joint collaboration will help advance and pioneer Far Eastern and South-East Asian topics in history and philosophy of science in Portugal.
